Archive Integrity

• Platform independent way to "lock" an archive?

• The directory file method:

  • Try to create empty directory .mhonarc.lck
  • If successful, have lock
  • Else retry until timed out
  
  

• flock() method available, if supported by system.

  • Avoids stale lock problem.
  
  

• Lock method and behavior controlled by resources.
